Soon after the release of the Hollywood blockbuster movie, The Fast and the Furious, the number of Mitsubishi Eclipse’s in the province gradually hiked up. However, Marwan Al Khaja, the only legal guy on the driver’s seat of this ’95 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T and one of the very old enthusiasts of these 2nd generation models was inspired to initiate a project of his own in order to nominate himself in the modern import arena.

The basic exterior look of the ride actually seeks to conceal the massive mutation that it has gone through over the past few years of ownership. Not expecting to do much with the exterior of the car, Marwan has been in fact working consequently on the interior and the mechanics of the 4G63. BMW M3 side mirrors w/ LED indicators is the most recent upgrade, the roof scoop was custom molded for efficient airflow along with the aluminum rear spoiler to enhance down force with improved aerodynamics. Moreover, the JDM Halo Projector headlights in addition to the Altezza Carbon Fiber look taillights allot an aggressive impression to the 280hp street machine. The car currently rides on 18-inches of Advanti Racing F328 rims while still retaining the former Evo VI rims in stock for autocross and racing applications (Marwan placed 1st position in Novice Class of Autocross).

At present, this is the only fine-tuned 4G63 we’ve ever featured over the past years. Despite the fact that the 4-cylinder 2000cc engine may not stand to the T88s or other massive turbo kits, Marwan’s 4G63 has a pretty long Kill List. The heavy-handed contestant under the hood is a GReddy TD05H-14B turbine alongside Nissan Silvia S14 intercooler w/ 2.5” piping kit, GReddy Type-S Blow-off valve and Profec-B boost controller. The fuel side consists of Walbro 255lph High-pressure fuel pump and RC Engineering 550cc fuel injectors (waiting to be installed along with Crower camshafts). Incredible handling/braking is all certified by H&R performance springs, Mugen front & rear upper strut bar, OBX Racing rear lower strut bar along with Energy Suspension motor mounts & Polyurethane Full Bushing kit. Simultaneously, RacingBrake front rotors and BF Goodridge stainless-steel brake lines deal out the power-assisted brake mechanism.

Transmission-related issues consist of ACT 2100lb clutch disk & Street Race pressure plate, B&M short-shifter kit plus Extreme Technologies aluminum shifter brackets. Other tidbits include APEXi N1 3-inch exhaust cat-back, Custom 3-inch aluminized steel Race pipe (CAT removed), Injen air filter intake, GReddy 2.5” upper/lower chromed Intercooler pipe kit, NGK Iridiam spark plugs and Magneccor V85 8.5mm spark plug wires.
The most remarkable district in the Red Dragon is its all-decorated cockpit. The custom red-coded zone is what was Marwan’s focal point all along. Not expecting very high performance from the 4G63 anyway, “it’s always been fun taking the weight off my feet in the Radiant Red interior”, expressed Marwan. Custom red & black artificial leather seats are the relaxing bases while aluminum checker-plated floor mats in addition to custom German Red floor carpeting & rear hatch cover redecorate the floorboards of the ride. StreetGlow Blue neons 15-inch under-dash kit plus 20-inch Red neon in the rear hatch enlightens the cockpit’s attraction.

Monitoring gadgets include Autometer Monster Tachometer w/ shift light, boost gauge, air/fuel ratio and fuel pressure gauge along with oil & water temperature gauge accommodated by chrome-dyed Autometer gauge holder. Blitz FATT full auto turbo timer sorts out heating/cooling times while APEXi RSM Rev/Speed meter weeds out the definite figures.

“ICE ICE Baby!” shouts the Dragon’s In-Car-Entertainment system showcasing the Pioneer 220W front & rear speakers & tweeters with JBL GTO6000 1100W amplifier and Active Subwoofer delivering the deafening bass. Other sound devices include Pioneer Mosfet digital cassette player and 12-disk CD-changer, Rockford Fosgate 1-farad capacitor w/ digital readout, All Stinger and Monster cables & wiring and Dynamat sound-deadening material on front speakers and under woofer.

Marwan is one of the very first Eclipse owners in the country owning the Red Dragon since June 2001. That explains the level of experience and know-how skills Marwan has got when it comes to 4G63s.
