I will have to kill myself now as I might be a threat for walking around Dubai. One good thing in communication is the BB and I can believe they are going to suspend it.

I have a strong feeling their only alternatives would be to offer Smart Phones with Data Packages, with a connector for Exchange/other mail servers. iPhone and Android and Windows Mobile (eww)

Saudi tried, but RIM didn't care. And they shouldn't, UAE and Saudi are essentially asking for a key that can let them monitor (read: intercept) BB communication. BB wouldn't be what it is right now had it not been secure and stable. If a server is hosted in UAE, expect problems with BB connectivity, which will be blamed on cable cuts, etc.

I dunno if TRA is actually doing the right thing.. Cuz God knows if RIM actually tracks down and archives every bit of data on their servers, im hearing lots of logical stories so before we rush and get angry about it lets think of this theory: I mean TRA isnt worried about some Gays sending pics to each other or some couple doing a sex chat on BB.. The reality is if somebody from outside the country is tapping BBs here and keeping track of everything they send and receive then this like spying.. Bad for the people that are sending private Emails thru their BBs..

Here's hoping I get a better package for the iPhone! I could do with an unlimited data package at a cheaper rate!

AED395 is a bit excessive

I think what ROJ is saying makes sense. I have been thinking(not really) about this and actually doing some research. UAE is worried because all of the data on the BB from the people in the UAE is stored on an external server in Canada. The UAE government (Etisalat or DU) does not have any access to this information. They have requested RIM for information regarding certain things and could not get a straight answer off RIM. All they have done now is threaten RIM to stop the services hoping that RIM will provide access or possibly let UAE have a server. This has been achieved in China for example.

So hopefully the TRA will have its way and it will be a win win situation for all of us. I would rather trust Etisalat with my information than RIM (in Canada or the States). But that is just me.

Did I make any sense?
