Yup, thats what I meant. Even though you're just beginning to get into photoshopping, I think this quite cool for a first time! Even I never tried doing the split-hood thing!

The idea which you were trying to come with was cool

But the editing seriously needs alot of improvement ... try google.com you'll find loads of tutotrials
