Hello everyone,
i'm a new member here in UAE Boost. i would like to have some advise since am pretty noobish when it comes to upgrading/modding cars.
i own a 93 Del sol, D15B engine, which is a pretty lame engine, the thing is i NEED more power to add to the motor but i cant afford a new sports engine like a B16 or B18, so whats the best economical way to increase HP? i installed a K&N short ram air intake system (i felt it improved the acceleration a bit), NGK platinum spark plugs and wires. what else can i do? can i do an ECU remapping to milk more hp from the engine since i have better air intake? please help :S

You can mill the head little bit to increase compression and make it little more peppy, add a lighter flywheel if you like, change the final drive, change the exaust to 4:2:1/4:1 Free Flow Exaust, Port the intake and exaust, etc.

I was oblivious of what ur saying, thank god there is google. Well, I dig the 4-2-1 manifold and porting the cylinder heads. How much do u think it'll cost me approximately? And since the airflow has been enhanced, shouldn't I remap the ecu to adjust the air/fuel thing :$

Porting your head does not really need re mapping because your stock ecu will be able to compensate for such changes. You cant really remap your stock ecu and work from there. Its better to get a piggy back like SAFC or E Manage or Unichip. Standalone ECU is what you should go ultimately but its all in howmuch you want to spend.
I would suggest go for cams and valve springs and retainers and port your head. While your head is out you might as well put ARP head studs and new HG and torque your ARP to the correct specs. Then a tune would do you some thing, you might as well slap bigger injectors and it will be good for the long run.
Depends really on what you really want out of that motor. There is no real " fixed" amount of money you can spend on performance. It can go on forever.

Free way to do is Remove all the weight from your car , seats etc etc and nice suspension you will notice a difference in your cars performance.

save your money and get b16a later on :D

once you touch your engine it will never end and will not satisfy your spending. Reliability will be your most concern.

good luck on your project, as what says about remove all unnecessary stuff in you car
(like a/c during the winter etc. etc.) jk

much easier to swap a b-series and get instant results
if u cant get b16 or b18
go for b20 its very cheap and not bad in performance

good luck with the project

 yea that would feel reaaal good lol
I was looking for a b16 or b18 engine and went for al taif garage, he's selling em for 15000^ !!!
I thought they'll be like 8 or 9K, so I started looking for a b20b engine, it's around 140 hp if it's clean. And the price is affordable (around 1500 without tranny) but am looking for the whole set, engine tranny and ecu, I still have time as am receiving some body parts from the US ( black housing headlights, door handles, 32cm sports steering wheel) once I install them I'll start the paint job, black Matt and some decent red stripes (interior is black and red shamwa), then in march I'll start popping the hood.

Again, Thanks everyone for ur support for my first project

buy a b20b, then vtec oil line kit... then buy a b16/b18 head with the harness and ecu, doesn't matter... then get a tune... if your tuner/builder is good you may get a clean 170-180 whp off the dyno... add camshafts then a tune might make you reach the 200hp NA whp...

you may tailgate a b series with your modified D during stop lights, but bolt-ons will just give you an edge on the 1st gear... after that the B series will come at you... If you want top speed, you gotta need more displacement.

if you want to keep your D, might as well consider getting a 1600 sohc block. then get a 4.7-4.9 Final Drive for your tranny, an LSD if you have extra... you will "feel" the difference...
