Guys i have been looking around for an air intake for a MAZDA 6 2009...no body has it...guess the car is too new for the intakes to be manufactured...i checked with k&n and all other major companies...the only company that does have one for the 2009 model is AUTOEXE...if you have heard the company is an official modifier for mazda based in japan...its RAM air intake but its expensive...quoting at 4500AED...thats way too much...i thought the universal K&N intake would be an option...what you guys think?...pls do post any suggestions...

Its a 2.5ltr...i know K&N is the best...but it dont seem like they have one specificaly for this model or would have one for a long time...except if i go with the universal one...but then am not sure wether it will fit properly...TNT wrote:2.0 or 2.3?

Precisely...first of all we have to get it through their distributors as AUTOEXE does not ship to int'l customers...the ram air intake costs 4500/- dirhams...i dont think a K&N will cost that much would it?...i was thinking maybe i could get a K&N Filter only and custom make the pipe...what do you guys think of that?...is it advisable?...
Oh didn't notice that you already mentioned AutoExe in your first post. BTW, who quoted you 4500?
If you don't wanna spend the money, wait for some brand to come up with an intake kit. Don't buy just a drop-in filter, it doesn't do much for performance.
And about custom, where do you plan to get that done?

any place that make intercooler pipes can make one for you, have it powder coated/painted and a few vinyls and a universal dry filter will do. Have them make the curves smooth for you and it to be a CAI (filter near the bumper under the headlight area).
you will also need to make a port for the intake sensor and make sure the pipe measurements are good to go with your throttle body.

I have attached pics of the AUTOEXE ram air intake, a company in singapore quoted $ 1,130 for it including shipping. I think a filter manufacturer like K&N takes atleast 2 years to come up with an intake for a new car, thats what a guy from K&N mentioned via email.
it also doesn't look like a effiecent intake. The less bends in a intake the better it is...
use the stock rubber intake arm and go buy any generic intake from some auto mart and clamp it onto the intake arm....DONE!! you will now have a SRI

Well this is the only intake avail in the market for the M6...when u say a generic intake what exactly are you referring to tamu?....Tamu wrote:it also doesn't look like a effiecent intake. The less bends in a intake the better it is...

The AUTOEXE intake has the opening right at the bottom which fits the front bumper hole...some ppl say its not efficient coz its a small opening...i think going for a custom made one is the best bet...but it has to be perfectly done...is there anyone around here who had fitted a custom intake?...
The below pic is of a intake filter. Buy any generic filter that will fit onto the black rubber intake arm that is attached to your cars intake manifold. It will function the same way as buying any aftermarket intake.
I dont really want to get into a intake discussion but if you logically think about it. Adding a metal pipe with a filter onto your engine will not be as effiecent as running with a rubber/plastic intake arm and filter. Most ppl say running a metal intake arm will generate more heat or something along those lines.
Stick with your stock intake arm, buy a normal k&n intake from some autoshop and clamp it on. You will feel the difference in throttle response but wont get anything more besides maybe sound, lol.
